17 rue Bleue (2001) is a French film about a single Arabic mother raising her two adolescent sons in France. It's a coming of age story loosely based on the director's own life, and it's one of those films that the critics can't help but fall all over themselves to praise as heartwarming, endearing, authentic and honest. Mostly it's just a bore, but it has one big giant shining scene that more than makes up for all the misery that the three main characters go through. Saida Jawad is standing naked in a bathroom when he mother opens the door and a well-placed mirror ensures that we get to see everything that Saida's got to offer. Her backside is on full display, but the mirror reflects her full frontal fun bags and fur as she stares at herself while the mother recoils and the sons try to angle for a better look. 17 rue Bleue is just the cure for your blue balls!
