A love affair in a small German town is compromised by the arrival of a cosmopolitan film director in the lyrical coming-of-age story Nitschewo (2003). Jim (Ken Duken) and Elise (Marie Zielcke) are young lovers whose passion is intensified by their mutual yearning for near-death situations. The couple manages to survive all the obstacles they hurl at themselves, but nothing prepares them for the arrival of an urban artist (Daniel Olbrychski) who inadvertently complicates their romantic affair. Director Stefan Sarazin is an acute observer of his complex and often contradictory characters, and his camera has a particular fondness for the luscious Zielcke. Sarazin is kind enough to let his lens linger on the actress’s luscious mounds as she enthusiastically boffs her boy toy.
