Review

Murder at 1600 (1997) has a great premise for a murder mystery in that the corpse is a young female staffer at the White House, and her body in found at that famous address noted in the title. It stars Wesley Snipes (pre-tax problems—maybe the movie got the government on his the trail of his unpaid taxes) and Diane Lane. The biggest problem with have with this otherwise thoroughly enjoyable crime drama is that Diana isn’t naked. What a wasted opportunity. Dennis Miller entertains, and the unraveling of the mystery is a edge-of-your-seats experience, but it’s also a out-of-your-pants experience thanks to the little known, but should be better known actress Mary Moore. More of her, please. She takes this film to another level when topless in a dark love scene as the opening credits role, and then again laid out on a morgue slab.
