Monique Mannen's career got out to a rather slow start, so to speak. After her debut as a dancer in Playing for Keeps, she landed the role of "Mo-Freak" in the 1988 Spike Lee film School Daze and was subsequently dancing in her next few films, including Coming to America, Rented Lips, and Bert Rigby, You're a Fool!. This sort of thing went on until she finally landed a semi-decent role in 1991's The Five Heartbeats, but alas, the Academy overlooked her for that one, too. In 1995, after her tit-revealing turn in The Fear, her career here in America went downhill. Thus, in lieu of appearing as a dancer in any more American movies, she is now acting in the German series Florida Lady. Good for her.
