Sure enough, Langhoff’s adaptation of George Tabori’s irreverent stage comedy reimagines the life of the twentieth century’s most notorious villain. In this revisionist retelling, the mustachioed megalomaniac meets a Jewish Bible salesman while living in a Viennese men’s shelter as a youth. Their encounter is spun into a provocative, controversial farce, which actually does find time for a bit of skin flashing. Elegant Gundula Köster pays a random visit to the boarding house to show off her perky tits to the future Fuhrer. Who would have thought?
