Maya Rudolph is Molly Novak, the wife of a tech giant (Adam Scott) whose luxurious world comes crashing down when she discovers - at her birthday party, no less - that her husband’s been having an affair with his young assistant. To distract her from her sadness and hopefully do some good with the $120 billion she gets in the divorce, Molly throws herself headfirst into philanthropy by showing up to the charitable organization she apparently owns, currently run by Michaela Jaé Rodriguez’s fastidious Sofia Salinas.
In the first season, Molly starts to develop a special bond with her new coworkers despite the various differences in their lifestyles, but especially with Arthur (Nat Faxon), the accountant who’s also a sweet, awkward, single dad. Just as Arthur is ready to admit he has feelings for Molly, she sleeps with her ex in a moment of weakness and stupidity. In season two, the tables turn, and Molly realizes her feelings for him just as he begins a new relationship with an Australian model he meets during a fashion show Molly participates in. In the seventh episode of the sophomore season, Molly tries to manufacture a romantic moment with Arthur by whisking the gang away to a work retreat at a cabin in San Bernadino. But when things don’t go as planned she (a notoriously bad driver) decides to take their van out for an angry spin and ends up accidentally hitting a butt-naked Meagen Fay as she returns from skinny dipping in a pond. We’re not sure how much is Meagen and how much is a stunt double, but both ladies bare their backsides and it’s glorious. Loot is a hoot that delivers the boot-y!
