What is it about redheads? Okay, Carrot Top is one thing--but redheaded women are an exotic treat for the senses. Case in point: young Lauren Ambrose, who first landed supporting work on NBC's Law & Order, which cast her as a mentally retarded teen who was perversely assaulted by her classmates. She made her big-screen debut as one of Kevin Kline's students in the pleasant outing flick In & Out (1997). Next Lauren won a supporting role in Can't Hardly Wait (1998) as a brainy alternative to Jennifer Love Huge Tits. Lauren also dipped her toes in the indie-flick water, starring in the drama Swimming (2000) as a teenager who asks that question every young girl asks at some point: "Am I a lesbo?" In the screen version of the off-Broadway musical Psycho Beach Party (2000), Lauren tears up the screen as the sexy tour-de-farce Chicklet, a schizophrenic teenage tomboy who fills out a granny-style two-piece swimsuit with electric youth. But Lauren's breakthrough role came on the HBO's TV series Six Feet Under playing Claire Fisher, the teen member of a dysfunctional family who runs an independent Pasadena funeral home. Thanks to Lauren's curvy bod, the Fishers' customers aren't the only ones getting stiff.
