The hypocrisy of our sex-obsessed but image-conscious society would seem to have cast an unjust cloud upon the sunny horizons that were the future career of comic, cuddly, blonde, and boldly bare actress Kristine DeBell. But, hey, she got famous in the '70s. So although Kristine may be less well known (today) than the likes of Traci Lords or Ginger Lynn, she remains, to date, the most successful starlet to cross over from X-rated entertainment to the Hollywood mainstream. DeBell landed a spot on the cover of Playboy's April 1976 issue, and was later featured in a Helmut Newton pictorial (August 1976) for the bunny mag. The bubbly, boobular, multi-talented New York City native broke into showbiz at a time of great erotic experimentation and exploitation, landing a leading role in the hardcore fantasy musical Alice in Wonderland (1976). Kristine's versatility extended beyond merely singing and dancing--her XXX prowess encompassed activities as disparate as eating man and eating clam. A few years later, when Kristine popped up as the wacky but whack-worthy A.L. in the camp comedy Meatballs (1979), she was already familiar to late-'70s TV fans from regular appearances on network fare such as Eight is Enough, Fantasy Island, and BJ and the Bear. That's no small feat for a screen beauty who just a short time earlier was best known for giving bj's while bare.
