Biography

First Lady of Cinema and natural redhead Katharine Hepburn’s career, both on and off the screen, is the stuff of Hollywood legend. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Katharine grew up helping her mother with women's suffrage campaigns. She went on to study history and philosophy at Bryn Mawr College, and after appearing in school stage productions, Katharine decided to pursue an acting career. She started out on stage in New York and quickly made her way to Hollywood, where her early onscreen credits included A Bill of Divorcement (1932), Christopher Strong (1933), Morning Glory (1933), and Little Women (1933). A groundbreaking actress and a vintage vixen, she went on to win three Best Actress Oscars and star in classic films like The Philadelphia Story (1940) and The African Queen (1951). She was romantically linked to Howard Hughes and Spencer Tracy, though lesbian rumors dogged her throughout her later years. Always elegant, independent, and free-spirited, “The Great Kate” broke the mold for leading ladies, even if she never broke free of her size 34B brassiere. That's right — the lovely Katharine, with her wavy hair, plush lips, and perfectly proportioned figure, never gave her viewers a peek at her naughty bits. But in the war romance The African Queen (1951), she teased us a little. While climbing aboard a ship in a soaking wet, white dress, Katharine leans forward and lets our eyes climb aboard her cleavage. Katharine passed away in 2003, but Mr. Skin will be sure to preserve the memory of Katharine winning a wet dress contest!
