A reigning glamour queen of the 1990s, long drink of brunette beauty Karen Duffy was an iconic omnipresence in her prime, holding down high-profile positions as an MTV yakker and spokesmodel for Revlon cosmetics, as well as doing simmering star turns in such generation-defining films as Reality Bites (1993) and Dumb and Dumber (1994). Then what would have been tragedy to a lesser light struck. Duffy was diagnosed with sarcoidosis of the central nervous system, a degenerative disease that caused lesions to grow in her brain and left the stunning world beater partially paralyzed. Duffy refused to lie down and suffer in obscurity. She released a book revealing her ordeal, Model Patient: My Life as an Incurable Wise-Ass, and dedicated her life to being an inspiration for fellow sufferers.
