Joanna Benda is a Polish sausage pleaser. She landed in the business of show, debuting in Szamanka (1996), which is a horror picture, though it’s in Polish, so who can really say. One thing we know is that it’s chock full of explicit sex scenes, so nasty that the lead act-chest quit acting afterwards. Thankfully, Joanna went on to a fruitful career on the boob tube and on the big screen, most arousingly in Pulapka (1987). This was a bit of a change of pace, in that it was a crime comedy caper about an actor who returns to Poland after 12 unsuccessful years in the US, only to find himself in a noir-like drama at home. Though not as penetrating a performance as the earlier film, you’ll be pleased by Joanna’s femme fatales.
