Jarhead (2005)

If watching a war movie that features more boobs than bombs gets you out of bed, consider Jarhead (2005) your bugle call! Anthony Swofford’s 2003 memoir is the basis of the biographical flick directed by Oscar winner Sam (American Beauty) Mendes. The plot kicks off when Kuwait is invaded by Iraq and U.S. Marine Anthony “Swoff” Swofford (Jake Gyllenhaal) is deployed to the Arabian Peninsula for Operation Desert Shield. During this Gulf War (1990-1991) account, we meet Staff Sergeant Sykes (Jamie Foxx), Corporal Troy (Peter Sarsgaard), and Lieutenant Colonel Kazinski (Chris Cooper). Even though Swoff is eager to engage in combat, he finds himself bored and unchallenged with remedial drills while stranded in the desert, waiting for a war that never calls him to action. To add to the surreal nature of the setting, one marine (Martin Papazian) receives a video from his wife (Becky Boxer) only to see she mixed up the tapes and sent him one of her getting banged by some dude. Judging by her rack and rump, all we can say is adultery looks good on her. Also looking good is Swoff's girlfriend Kristina (Brianne Davis) who shows off her breasts and panties during a flesh-back. Although this pic wasn’t a box office hit when it was first released, it spawned the fictional sequels Jarhead 2: Field of Fire (2014), Jarhead 3: The Siege (2016) and Jarhead: Law of Return (2019). Needless to say, Mr. Skin is waiting with masturbated breath for the next installment — maybe Jugs-head.
