Review
Nonzee Nimibutr, one of Thailand’s most gifted directors, spins a classic of Thai literature into cinematic gold in the erotic drama Jan Dara (2001). Christy Chung flaunts her acting chops and her slender nude body as Khun Boonlueang, an insatiable nymphomaniac who teaches the titular hero (Sunwinit Panjamawat) the enigmatic ways of love. There are a number of thematic elements swirling through this art film--family curses, bitter revenge, Oedipal desires--but they all pale in comparison to the sight of Chung sashaying nude through scene after scene.
