Iwona Petry is no Polish joke, unless it’s a sexy joke, and then she’s really only the sexy part. She was just another unknown in the sticks until director Andrzej Zulawski found her and cast her as his female lead in Szamanka (1996). According to legend, she was working in a Warsaw coffee shop when the director saw her and offer the part on sight. The movie, sadly, was a critical and commercial failure. However, in skin terms it is a roaring success in our pants. It’s nearly pornographic elements make it a muff-see, if you know what we mean, and if you don’t we mean that Iwona shows her darkly arousing bush multiple times, flashing it in public, when opening the door to her apartment and in more expected places like inside her home. After the movie, Iwona left the country to find herself, returned and published a book of short stories. She doesn’t rule out a return to acting.
