How to Be Single (2016) follows a group of twenty- and thirty-somethings in New York Single as they navigate singledom—and why it matters. Our main protagonist is Alice (Dakota Johnson) when she breaks up with her longtime boyfriend (and then tries to get back together with him). For the first time ever, she's on her own in a big city and trying to get to know herself—the self that doesn't include bits of someone else. Alison Brie plays dating app connoisseur who wants nothing more than to get married and start a family, while Rebel Wilson is a party girl who is maybe the only character with a good handle on enjoying flying solo.
