Gossip Girl (2021-2023)

As the old saying goes, everything old is new again, and in the summer of 2021 it was Gossip Girl's turn to get rebooted for the age of social media overload. Social media was obviously around when the original series ran from 2007-2012, but it wasn't quite the ubiquitous and dominant form of communication that it was nine years later. Kate Keller (Tavi Gevinson) is a brand new teacher at the now coed Constance Billard private school whose first day at the chichi school leads her to reboot the Gossip Girl blog, this time as an Instagram page that will dish the hottest gossip on all the little monsters who attend the school. She immediately sets her sights on the most popular kids in school, including fashion influencer Julien (Jordan Alexander), her ultra-woke boyfriend Obie (Eli Brown), pill popping sex addict Max (Thomas Doherty), on again/off again couple Audrey (Emily Alyn Lind) and Aki (Evan Mock), and the queen bitch of the school Monet (Savannah Smith), who exploits her submissive lackey Luna (Zión Moreno) at every opportunity. The other audience surrogate is new girl Zoya (Whitney Peak), a lower class cousin of Julien, whose family is secretly paying Zoya's tuition, making her an immediate target of the rich kids—and a likely suspect for the true identity of Gossip Girl amongst the cool kids. With the show having migrated to HBO from The CW, we're holding out hope for some truly dirty content, but the series premiere kept things covered up! Emily Alyn Lynd has three sex scenes with her pink-haired boyfriend, all of them non-nude, while Whitney Peak strips down to her underwear to get out of her wet clothing! Some nudity might really make this show the talk of the town!
