Review

The HBO Max series Station Eleven debuted on the streaming service late in 2021 and imagines a post apocalyptic world not too far off from our own. Based on the 2014 book of the same name, the series is set twenty years after a flu-like pandemic known as the Georgia Flu wiped out most of humanity. Mackenzie Davis stars as Kirsten, an actor in a traveling group of nomads who still produce theater in the post apocalypse. She was only an 8 year old child actress when the Georgia Flu struck, so she remembers very little of what the world was like prior to that pandemic, but she does remember the man playing King Lear who died of a heart attack on stage the night word first hit about the Georgia Flu. Interestingly, that same man's son Tyler, now known simply as The Prophet (Daniel Zovatto), is now the leader of a cult in which he grew up, away from his father, in Jerusalem. Their paths will intersect in unexpected ways along with Jeevan Chaudhary (Himesh Patel), a former paparazzo turned EMT, as these mysterious strangers with deep and strange connections continue crossing paths. There's no denying that the show has major potential as a piece of genre entertainment, but we are disappointed by the lack of skin in the first few episodes. Mackenzie Davis does look sexy in episode two in a one piece swimsuit that nicely accentuates her buns! Hopefully some more sexy content is coming down the pike to please our Station Eleven inches!
