An impromptu carpool turns into an earnest soul-searching session in the mysterious Italo-Spanish thriller Fury (1979). A nameless man (Stuart Whitman) and woman (Laura Gemser) have no idea how much they have in common until they hitch a ride together in the bed of a pickup. During the course of the lengthy ride, the pair opens up to each other, comparing notes on failed relationships, destructive decisions, and more. When the truck pulls into its final destination, however, the man turns around to discover the woman gone, forever leaving him to wonder whether she was a figment of his imagination. Because a feature-length car trip isn’t much fun to watch, director José Mariá Forqué spices his thriller with sumptuous flashbacks, featuring sensuous skin reveals from the statuesque Gemser, plus co-stars Paola Senatore and Pilar Velázquez.
