Review

Writer/director Herbert Vesely examines the life of Austrian Expressionist Egon Schiele in Egon Schiele - Exzess und Bestrafung (1981), also known as Egon Schiele - Excess and Punishment and Egon Schiele, enfer et passion. Not to be confused with Egon Schiele: Death and the Maiden (2016), this skinternational biopic begins in 1912 when Egon (Mathieu Carrière) is dabbling in pornography while bedding his muse Wally Neuzil (Jane Birkin). But he is imprisoned when a teenaged fan named Tatjana von Mossig (Karina Fallenstein) accuses him of sexual impropriety. Even though she withdraws her accusations, the damage has been done and Schiele is banned from polite society. He then joins the Austrian army as a volunteer to fight during World War I. Once he discovers he’s a lover not a fighter, the artsy bachelor weds Edith Harms (Christine Kaufmann). Alas, Mr. Schiele’s marriage ends when his sickly missus becomes a victim of the 1918 Spanish influenza pandemic. After he makes love to his dying spouse, Egon later dies of influenza too. But at least he got to enjoy a lot of skin amid his lusty lifetime. For starters, Ms. Birkin parades her petite peaks and fluffy muff to the artiste when strutting her stuff in the buff. The same can be said of Ms. Fallenstein whose character bares her breasts, bush and bum while posing for a painting. Talk about a masterpiece of ass! If that’s not arousing enough, Ms. Kaufmann goes full frontal for her spouse. No wonder the hubby has a chubby!
