Polish director Piotr Trzaskalski's Edi (2002) chronicles the life of the title character (Henryk Golebiewski) as a homeless scrap collector. A pair of tough-guy brothers (Jacek Lenartowicz and Grzegorz Stelmaszewski) hire Edi to look after their teenage sister (Aleksandra Kisio), who's running a bit too wild for their liking. When the girl gets pregnant, she claims Edi is the father, and the results are unexpected in this moving, grittily realistic drama.
