Alternately titled Who Killed Atlanta’s Children?, the hard-hitting made-for-TV drama Echo of Murder (2000) recounts the efforts of a pair of journalists to discover the man behind a series of grisly killings. Based on true-life events from the 1980s, Charles Robert Carner’s film stars James Belushi and Gregory Hines as Spin reporters who are unsatisfied with the official investigation into a rash of child murders. Suspicious of the city’s conviction of an African-American man, the intrepid journalists explore the possibility of an elaborate conspiracy theory. Carner’s film stops short of drawing definitive conclusions, but he does treat a number of other subjects in a cut-and-dry matter. Exhibit A: the fantastic bodies of Elena Joukova-Douglas and Tatiana Medvedeva, who do Atlanta proud in their performances as flesh-flashing exotic dancers.
