Drive My Car (2021)

Based on the short story of the same name by renowned Japanese author Haruki Murakami, Drive My Car (2021) is a meditative character study that took home the Palme d'Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. The film centers around actor Yusuke Kafuku (Hidetoshi Nishijima), who has accepted a residency at a theatre in Hiroshima and needs a chauffeur to take him to and from the theatre every day. On the advice of his trusted mechanic, he hires twenty year old Misaki Watari (Tōko Miura) with whom he clashes at first, but is eventually won over by her clear skill behind the wheel. Over time, he begins to open up to her about his deceased wife Oto (Reika Kirishima) and how, after her death, he befriended Kōji Takatsuki (Masaki Okada), the man with whom his wife was having an extra marital affair. The undeniable highlights of this three hour film are the multiple sexy flashback scenes involving Reika Kirishima, who comes close to showing us her breasts during a sex scene, but also graces us with a couple of looks at her bare ass!
