Detroit 9000 (1973)

One of the great undiscovered gems of 70s exploitation filmmaking is the crime thriller Detroit 9000 (1973). The film remained under-seen and under-appreciated until Quentin Tarantino brought it back to the public in the mid-90s. The film explores race relations in the urban slums of Detroit, following two cops, one white (Alex Rocco) and one black (Hari Rhodes), trying to solve the robbery of a local politician's headquarters and whether it was an all-white or all-black gang involved in the heist! In one scintillating scene, a group of men bust into a hotel room occupied by a topless Vonette McGee, who quickly covers up her casabas! The fun resumes when the other men leave and her man lays down to lay some pipe, revealing her rack once more! Sadly it's short-lived as another cop comes in and interrupts them again! Detroit 9000 turns Motown into grow-town!
