Sylvester Stallone plays the eponymous Demolition Man (1993) in a riveting futuristic action thriller that mopped up at American box offices. After killing innocent hostages in his overzealous bid to stop a serial killer (Wesley Snipes with a bad bleach job), John “Demolition Man” Spartan is cryogenically frozen and kept on ice for forty years. Thawed out in the year 2032, the super-cop is again dispatched to stop Simon, who was similarly chilled before being released to execute a political bigwig. The genius of Marco Brambilla’s film is in the details, which include a hilariously prescient mention of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s political successes, and a not-to-be-missed nude scene in which Brandy Ledford treats viewers to her cyber-mammaries.
