Biography

English actress Delia Lindsay has made her presence known in a variety of movies and TV projects in the UK starting as far back as 1969. She’s usually the upper-crust diva, a matriarch, or a memorable character of some sort, either adding drama or comedy to the scene. She made her skinsational debut in the same place she made her big-screen debut, as Alice in the gothic horror flick Scars of Dracula (1970) with Christopher Lee, baring her plush bottom and frontal nudity loosely covered by a white sheet. In 1973, she appeared fully naked as assaulted wife Maris in the Belgium disturbing drama Because of the Cats (1973). Elsewhere, the dark-haired, and later gray-streaked, delightful Delia popped up in several mini-series in the United Kingdom, playing The Real Lady Betty in Clarissa (1991), Amelia Mansfield in Berkeley Square (1998), and Mrs. Arrowpoint in Daniel Deronda (2002). In addition, the arresting actress has graced the big screen as the second coven in the Roddy McDowall-directed Tam Lin (1970) with Ava Gardner; as a society lady in Mrs. Brown (1997) with Judi Dench; as a tweedy woman in Hilary and Jackie (1998) with Emily Watson and Rachel Griffiths; she appeared in An Ideal Husband (1999) as Lady Basildon, with Rupert Everett, Cate Blanchett, Minnie Driver, and Julianne Moore; and in Piccadilly Jim (2004) as the Duchess of Arminster, with Sam Rockwell, her last big-screen adventure. She did one more TV movie in 2010, playing Barbara in On Expenses in 2010, then retired from the acting profession.
