A family mercantile empire crumbles when the next generation loses interest in Buddenbrooks (2008). The Buddenbrook family has dominated commerce in the town of Lübeck for four generations, and Consul Jean Buddenbrook (Armin Mueller-Stahl) is trying to decide which of his sons will inherit the business. He pushes his eldest son Thomas (Mark Waschke) into a marriage with the Dutch heiress Gerda (Léa Bosco), but Thomas cannot get over his first love, a poor flower girl. Younger son Christian (August Diehl) returns to town after studying the trade in London, but is much more interested in going to the theater to see beautiful actress Aline (Nina Proll) than he is in running the company. All this coupled with some unlucky business transactions may give the prosperous family their first taste of failure. Maja Schöne plays a flower girl, and gives us a good look at her posies while she’s lying topless in bed. Those blooms will have your stinger ready to pollinate!
