Back in the 50’s, Buckskin was a story about an 1880 boarding house in Buckskin, Montana run by Annie O’Connell (Sally Brophy). A series of dramas dealing with travelers and locals were told from the point of view of 10-year-old Jody O’Connell (Tommy Nolan). And being as it was a 50’s show, it wasn’t half bad, despite the wooden acting and low budget design. So why are we discussing it today, on this website? Well, mainly because Shirley Knight has a small role in the thing, and many decades later she got naked, parted her cheeks, and bent forward so a prison officer could inspect her insides on the TV movie Indictment: The McMartin Trial. It was a brave role for a big girl, even though she was nominated twice for Oscars in the 60’s, but it seemingly kicked her on to a career rejuvenation since she’s worked on many big flicks since. Those who feel sorry for me, being as I had to sit through her nude scene, can send donations to the Film Reviewer Retina Replacement Fund, Skin Towers, Chicago, IL.
