Bret Maverick

A follow-on to the 1981 TV movie by the same name, which was in itself a follow-on to the 60’s TV series Maverick, this western was set in Sweetwater, Arizona in the 1880s, and follows the life and loves of gambling man Bret Maverick. The owner of a ranch and part-owner of the Red Ox Saloon, Maverick dodged bad guys and the law while frequently getting one over on both. Unlike the later feature film starring Mel Gibson, this series was actually fronted by the original Bret Maverick, James Garner, reprising the role that made him famous. Simone Griffeth (who appeared nude in Gibson’s The Patriot) co-starred.
