Black Cake (2023)

When Eleanor Bennett (Chipo Chung) passes away, her children, estranged siblings Byron (Ashley Thomas) and Benny (Adrienne Warren) are summoned to the office of Charles Mitch (Glynn Turman) for the reading of her will. Part of the will is on a flash drive, recorded by Eleanor in which she reveals the truth about her past. We now flash back to young Eleanor (Mia Isaac), who’s real name is Coventina “Covey” Lyncock, an accomplished swimmer and surfer who grew up in the West Indies. Her father Lin (Simon Wan) was a gambling addict and ends up arranging a marriage between her and Clarence “Little Man” Henry (Anthony Mark Barrow) in order to settle his debts, despite her being in love with Gibbs Grant (Ahmed Elhaj). But when her betrothed is murdered, Covey goes on the run in order to start a new life, journeying from the Caribbean to London to California. That’s where we meet Cherrelle Skeete, who plays Adrienne’s lesbian lover in present day. The two are canoodling in bed, sharing a doob, when the sheet slips off Cherrelle’s chest and reveals her luscious left breast. Skeete’s not just her name, it’s what you’ll do when you see Cherrelle’s cha chas!
