Beach Rats is a coming out story of sorts, as a 19-year-old tough guy named Frankie contends with Coney Island and the repressive group of straight friends he has. While he's seeking out older men on the Internet, he's also dating Simone (Madeline Weinstein), a smart, sharp Brooklyn girl who isn't quite sure why her boyfriend is a little allergic to intimacy with her.
