Avec tout mon amour (2001)

A lawyer goes to France at the beginning of the 20th century to defend the Marguerite rebels who were accused of killing 7 Europeans. The lawyer, Jean Corveler, returns to Algeria to find his wife, Eugenia, dead in the bedroom. All he finds is a letter that has written on it ‘All my love.’ This prompts Jean to dwell on Eugenia’s past, and her affiliation with the colonialization of Algeria and its struggles for freedom. She also had identity issues stemming from being the illegitimate child of the girl who she was brought up to believe was her sister. And the social layer above that, during this testing period, made her question her legitimacy as a citizen of her own country.
