Ausgerastet (1997)

A beautiful young woman leaves a disco after a spat, only to wonder about the actions of the man she abandoned, in the made-for-TV suspense thriller Ausgerastet (1997). Set amid the gritty, working-class environs of contemporary Cologne, Hanno Brühl’s finely crafted film stars Katharina Schüttler as the woman who fears that her boyfriend may be mixed up in an unsolved murder. The woman’s suspicions reveal more about her fragile psyche than her boyfriend’s complicity in the crime, but Schüttler’s wardrobe is no less revealing. The German critics’ darling dons nary a stitch as she tussles with the man she suspects of homicide.
