After Anyuta (2018)

You gotta love short films because the majority of the time, they need to grab your attention right away and even if they don't, you only have to sit there for about 10 minutes or so.  Luckily for us, After Anyuta (2018) grabs your attention from the first frame and gives you a 10 minute runtime that'll keep your eyes glued to the screen.  The story follows Anyuta (Sophie Mae Reppert), who makes her living as a life model of sorts, posing for whatever she can to get some extra money in.  As this short film takes place over the course of a day in her life, we follow her posing as a life model for her lover, a medical student who wants to examine her body in the nude and up close, as well as her posing for a neighboring artist who wants to paint her portrait.  The young, beautiful, and somewhat emotionally distraught Anyuta seemingly bounces between the neighboring apartments, acquaintances, and random professionals her body happens to intersect with on any given day.  Lucky for us, this short film based on the Anton Chekhov short story from 1886, Anyuta, and it doesn't shy away from the source material of a young naked women being ogled in different ways by different men.  The star of this flick Sophie Mae Reppert stays topless and in white panties pretty much throughout the short and that body of hers is definitely something we'd like to study, paint, sculpt, or even just be in the same room with!  Maybe it wasn't the tuberculosis that got Chekhov breathing heavy... Maybe it was After Anyuta got topless!
