This sci-fi series from 1972 is fondly remembered in the land of the boot, where it lives on in reruns but it was first brought to the screen as a UK series based on a Fred Hoyle and John Elliot book – A For Andromeda: A Novel For Tomorrow. One of several shows of the time that were inspired by sci-fi novels, this one deals with a group of scientists picking up a message that seems to come from the galaxy of Andromeda. The message gives the instructions needed in order to produce a form of intelligent life in the laboratory. Of course, the scientists give it a try and the first creature that comes out turns out to be a monster. Madness ensues.  Some of the best sci-fi TV ever made comes from the 70’s, such as Dr Who and Blake’s 7, because the lack of special effects technology made the writers venture deeper into the soul to get their scares. This series does a good job of that, nurturing a steady sense of suspense and action that never bores the audience. Of the females in the cast, only Paola Pitagora managed to get her gear off in another role (at least according to the snoops at Skin Towers), so for the best look at this buxom beauty from bruschetta land, point your browser towards the MrSkinentry for Blood in the Streets.
