2046 (2004)

2046 (2004) is Hong Kong legend Wong Kar-Wai's melancholy story about the desperate, lonely people of the future. With Earth connected by giant, ultra-fast trains, a rumor breaks out across the globe about a mysterious room in an unknown hotel right near the tracks that exists in a weird vacuum where nothing is sad, and no memory is lost forever. Inspired, Chow writes a novel all about the mysterious room 2046, which becomes a big hit, and appears to have created the entire rumor about the magic room's existence. Chow tries to write a sequel called 2047 where the character who is clearly him manages to find love but can't seem to finish it despite frequent visits from futuristic fembots.
