A staple of the underground performance art scene in late 70s and early 80s New York City, Veronica Vera is an author, actress, and sex positivity advocate who created the world's first cross dressing and transgender academy, Miss Vera’s Finishing School for Boys Who Want to Be Girls. Veronica famously collaborated with controversial photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in the early 80s, even testifying in congress in the infamous hearings about government funding for the arts. Veronica's most prominent work, however, was a segment in the documentary Mondo New York (1988), where she and Annie Sprinkle get completely nude and do a performance art piece!
