A self-described “nice Jewish girl,” Annie Sprinkle was born into a household of academics in Pennsylvania. “I was not a sexual child,” she says of growing up in Los Angeles. “I was very shy and inhibited. It wasn’t until I lost my virginity at the age of seventeen that I even became interested in sex.” That interest became a profession as Annie worked as a cashier at a porno theater and then decided to become one of the first stars of the burgeoning adult industry of the early ’70s. After appearing in two hundred porn loops, Annie became a feminist in the early ’80s. That, thankfully, didn’t curb her enthusiasm for exhibitionism. Now famous as a bisexual perv-formance artist, Annie has been captured in some documentaries, such as Annie (1989), where she rests her giant jugs on lucky audience members’ heads. She even gives people a literal inside view of her cervix. Thank you, Annie, for boldly going where only hard-ons have gone before.
