The legacy of the Swedish screen siren raises expectations of erotic visions. When we fantasize about Scandinavia, we picture a powder-soft terrain of pretty peaks and a face glowing with inner heat. Such dreams materialize in Pernilla August. The sizzling Swede is as hot as her last name implies. Perhaps that’s why she caught the attention of her nation’s most famous moviemaker Ingmar Bergman. It’s not hard to see what he saw in her; we assume he viewed her nude debut in Lasse Hallström’s film Tuppen (1981). After shooting those skinny-dipping scenes, the alluring actress was ready to bare her breasts in Bergman’s family epic Fanny and Alexander (1982). Pernilla proceeded to perform in more of his works, such as The Best Intentions (1991), Private Confessions (1996), and In the Presence of a Clown (1997).
