The Sterile Cuckoo (1969)

Based on the novel of the same name by John Nichols, The Sterile Cuckoo (1969) marked the directorial debut of Alan J. Pakula (Klute, All the President's Men) and landed star Liza Minnelli her first Oscar nomination! Liza stars as Pookie, a free-spirited woman who meets the shy Jerry (Wendell Burton) on a cross-country bus trip taking them to their colleges as freshman. Over the course of the next year, Pookie randomly pops in and out of Jerry's life, causing havoc nearly everywhere she goes, and even giving him a pregnancy scare after they sleep together! You'll go Cuckoo over the scenes of Liza in a sexy bra and underwear combo, though sadly she never sheds those to show us what's underneath!
