The 8 Show (2024-)

It’s easy to immediately equate another Korean Netflix series about an extreme game show with the blockbuster hit Squid Game, but the truth is The 8 Show gets its inspiration from a webtoon that came out prior to Squid Game called Money Game. All of these series have one simple theme - they show the lengths people living under the thumb of capitalism will go to for money. Eight men and women, including the protagonist Bae Jin-su (Ryu Jun-yeol), who owes a ridiculous amount of money to some loan sharks out for blood, find themselves in a house to partake in a mysterious game with 8 dangerous levels - and they have to figure out the rules. Each level they pass means more money for them at the end, and like Squid Game, the contestants can either work together or have it be every man for himself. Two of the lady participants, played by Chun Woo-hee and Lee Zoo-young, can be seen in different states of undress throughout, but only Lee Zoo-young gets to lock lips with a long-haired mystery lady in a shiny dress. Both will still have you putting on a ‘Bate Show of your own!
