The line of thought that a thief uses to rationalize taking possession of another person’s property is a twisted and fascinating progression of black-hearted logic, much like the unfolding plot points of Swindled (2004). This gripping, pulse-quickening Spanish study of criminal minds introduces con-man mentors, their ambitiously larcenous understudies, and a satin-thighed former lover of the king crook. Every bent conscience and skewed consciousness in this band of bunko artists works at the heights of their devious intelligences to ensure that their cohorts will reach the end of the day feeling ripped-off, a reaction diametrically opposed to that of the viewer at home.
