Sultry Spanish export Victoria Abril began her career at fourteen on popular TV shows in her native country and made her movie debut in Cambio de Sexo (1976) as an effeminate young man who undergoes a sex change, although no surgery could compete with the actress’s 100% genuine curves. Since then she has made over sixty films in Europe. Victoria is mostly known to U.S. audiences through the work of wild Spanish director Pedro Almodovar, who cast her in Atame! (1990), a.k.a. Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, in which she plays a drug-addicted porn actress who is kidnapped by obsessive fan Antonio Banderas. The film was a huge hit all over the world and gave Victoria a cult following in the States. With such diverse roles as alcoholic prostitutes, sexually ambiguous housewives, and pre- and post-op transsexuals, Victoria has secured her place as one of the quirkiest actresses around--and she's round (and round and round) in all the right places!
