Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a certain genre or year with great nudity. This week: movies from the year 2000!
The year 2000 is back in a big way! In case you haven't noticed, Gen Z is really into "Y2K" fashion. We are seeing a resurgence of interest in movies, music, and fashion from the early 2000s...and that includes hot celebrities. I want to take us back to the year 2000 itself, to the dawning of the New Millennium, to see what films brought us into the modern era.
These were the finest films from the year 2000 that also had great nudity.
American Psycho
Mary Harron's take Bret Easton Ellis' very controversial novel is a classic. She directed Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, the 80s finance whiz kid with psychopathic tendencies. He has sex with a lot of women, including a very hot threesome in front of a mirror in which he starts flexing in the mirror as he watches himself bang these two babes. He's watching himself, but we're watching Krista Sutton and Cara Seymour!
Bedazzled
There is no nudity in Bedazzled, but there is the sizzling hot Elizabeth Hurley. Does Elizabeth Hurley go nude in the movie? No, but she plays the devil in this cheeky remake of the British original film about a man who sells his soul to the devil. I like this version more than the original (which is also very good) because it makes more sense for the devil to be a strikingly gorgeous woman. Cue bedazzling babe Elizabeth Hurley!
Scary Movie
It was the parody of the parody that launched its own franchise: Scary Movie. The meta-horror film Scream ushered in a new era of slasher flicks, so Scary Movie put on the Ghostface mask and parodied all of those films. This raunchy, laugh-out-loud comedy from the Wayans Brothers was a total hit. There is not a ton of nudity in these movies, but Anna Faris uses a body double for a funny sex scene and Carmen Electra has a HOT chase scene from a killer. As she runs, her clothes seem to come right off!
Coyote Ugly
It's time to take off your shirt and dance on top of a bar because we are going to highlight Coyote Ugly. Is this a great film? No! Is it a ton of fun? Yes! Is there nudity? BIG TIME YES. I've always said that Coyote Ugly is like Road House for chicks. It's not great, but it's FUN as Piper Perabo works as a Jersey girl who goes to New York City to make it big as a singer. To make ends meet, she gets a job at this bar that has its female bartenders and waitresses singing and dancing on the bar a lot. Piper joins in on the fun and makes mad cash in tips. Of course, she does! She and babes like Tyra Banks are a HIT:
Piper also has a sex scene, but she uses Laura Grady as a body double to show a perky pair-a-boobs.
Malena
If you wanted a film from the year 2000s with magnificent mams, then Malena is the movie for you. This sexy Italian flick is set in the 1940s where an outsider to a small Sicilian village, played by Monica Bellucci, is now left alone when her new hubby is called to fight in the war. A young man named Renato falls deeply in infatuation for Malena aka Monica and it's no wonder why: she is gorgeous!
She has nine stunning nude scenes in this movie that show us her boobs, buns, and bush. She is a star and she is endlessly compelling in this coming-of-age World War II movie straight out of Italy. Caio, Italia, Caio! She's not the only one - Elisa Morucci leaves us wanting more with her full-frontal scene.
Almost Famous
The year 2000 was, of course, the year that Almost Famous was released. We recently talked all about this classic film about an aspiring music critic who gets the opportunity to follow a wild 70s rock band for Rolling Stone, but it's worth reiterating that Kate Hudson is stunning and iconic as Penny Lane in the movie. She dances topless, proving herself to be the groupie girl of every music lover's dreams. The blonde babe's character remains legendary for scenes just like this!
Psycho Beach Party
It's time for a spoof! Psycho Beach Party is a sorely underrated horror-comedy that takes the piss out of those 1960s beach blanket movies where innocent teens headed to the beach to dance in their bikinis. This movie mixes those films with a bit of terror as innocent beach bunnies start turning up dead!
The young Amy Adams has her bikini bottoms snatched to show off her booty, but Kimberly Blair makes us stare during her naked car scene. This beach party looks far out!
