Our Staff Picks column is a new addition that takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version has a decidedly nude angle, as we suss out which films from a certain genre with great nudity. This week: 1950s nudity!

The 1950s are not known for nudity which is why this is a very sexciting Staff Picks for me to write. These are scenes that are likely not well known because not many people know about nude scenes from the 1950s. However, these 50s nude scenes prove that people were not prudes back then. Check out these films with HOT nude scenes from the 1950s:

The Tall Men

The sexy and strong Jane Russell was a pinup darling in the 1950s thanks to her promotional photos for The Outlaw. Thank goodness Jane Russell's sexy body was never outlawed because this darling actress actually went nude in an American-made Western in 1955! That was fairly unheard of, but Raoul Walsh directed this scene that featured the statuesque Russell nude in the background of a scene. She washes her bare breasts to show off her famous 38D's!

Jeanne Eagels

Vertigo star Kim Novak was one of the most gorgeous blondes to ever live. This tall, elegant beauty with an hourglass figure stars as a dancer in this biopic about the carnival dancer. Her life was filled with ups and downs, like most entertainers, and her career was filled with struggles with alcohol and drugs. Novak portrays all of this wonderfully...and sexually.

She does hot little stripteases and even skinny dips to show her bare bottom. However, that was not Kim Novak. Naughty Novak swapped bods with a body double. Even though it's a body double, this scene is double the sexy since it's a black-and-white 1950s flick with a juicy booty in it!

...And God Created Woman

The famous director Roger Vadim directed the blonde beauty Brigitte Bardot in a few films because they were actually married for a period of time. He took his perfect wife and made her star in this stunning film where the French fox plays the near-perfect ideal of a woman hanging out in St. Tropez and causing men to nearly fall over themselves with lust. Hey, that's the Bardot effect!

Interestingly, this film caused some scandal upon its release because French film critics thought it was not nearly as artistic as cinema should be. And this is France that we're talking about! 1950s France felt this film was a bit too low-brow...especially considering Brigitte Bardot is seen in the buff!

Two Men in Manhattan

French director Jean-Pierre Melville made an interesting choice when he took his French aesthetics to 1950s New York. Melville himself plays a reporter investigating the apparent disappearance of a French delegate to the UN. Michele Bailly stars as a girl who is being questioned and skinvestigated. During this skinvestigation, Michele takes off her top and shows off insanely sexy domes. Bailly's boobs are two mams taking over Manhattan!

The Night Heaven Fell

Hey, let's talk about Vadim and Bardot again. This French classic is darker and more dramatic than the previous collaboration that we discussed. But don't worry! Bardot still goes nude which gives us sexual relief from all of the tense drama in this film.

The Lovers

Louis Malle directed this 1958 film that was SO controversial for its nudity that it literally caused a US Supreme Court case. Jeanne Moreau was the cause of all of that controversy because she showed her breasts AND she had an orgasm. A woman having an orgasm onscreen in the 1950s?! It's true! that is why she is one of the titular Lovers!

The Twilight Girls

This sexploitation flick has it all! Marie-Hélène Arnaud goes to a boarding school where she is surrounded by other hot and hootery French schoolgirls. That's about it for the plot! Marie-Helene is very sweet in the film and she is even sweeter when she shows tits and bush as she takes a steamy shower.

American filmmaker Radley Metzger bought the rights to this film and added more sexy scenes of girls taking off their clothes. Agnes Laurent went nude in the original, but the new babes that were added really add some foxy flavor to the French original. American actresses Georgina Spelvin and Alice Denham show off major boobage that is impressive for 1957 and beyond.
