Review
Parminder Nagra of Bend It Like Beckham (2002) fame stars as the free-thinking daughter of a super-traditional family in Second Generation (2003), director Jon Sen's reworking of King Lear. Runaway Parmi has been trying to make a life for herself without the interference of her Indian family—she's engaged to Anglo journo Danny Dyer and is generally making a good go of things. But when a family emergency draws her home to deal with the oh-so-orthodox world of daddums Om Puri and her sisters Amita Dhiri and Rita Wolf, Parm ends up in the middle of an East-meets-West dilemma . . . and back in the arms of her old flame Christopher Simpson to boot.
