Review

Showtime continues the cable-TV trend of upping the ante in family dramas by raising viewer’s members with a full hand of sex and violence. On Resurrection Blvd., the family is a Latino one based in East L.A. The matriarch has recently died, leaving her husband to handle a troubled boxer son and a hot tamale of a daughter. Though fight scenes are choreographed by Jimmy Nicholson of Rocky fame, the real action occurs outside of the ring. Marisol Nichols is a sultry sibling, but it’s pugilist Michael DeLorenzo who gets the TKO in a scene with Sandra Ramírez. Sandra’s chest burritos are so large they threaten to burst, but it’s audiences who get messy with their salsa watching her jiggle. Forget about Viagra, just take a walk down this boulevard and you’ll be resurrected.
