What can be said about the granddaddy of all zombie films that hasn't already been said? George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968) revolutionized the horror genre and created an entirely new subgenre which Romero himself would revisit five additional times over the next four decades! The first film has a relatively simple premise: while visiting her father's grave with her brother Johnny (Russell Streiner), our heroine Barbra (Judith O'Dea) finds herself at ground zero for a zombie outbreak. She takes refuge in a nearby farmhouse along with a black man named Ben (Duane Jones) and several other people as they soon find themselves under attack from hordes of reanimated corpses! While the film is remembered for many things, being one of the first American independent horror films to feature nudity isn't often one of the first things mentioned. However, Carol Wayne bares her boobs and buns as one of the undead, and with the film premiering a month before the newly formed MPAA released their ratings system, audiences of the time got quite a shock when she Carol walks nude across the lawn!
