Set in eighteenth-century Munich, the rousing biopic Mozart - Ich hätte München Ehre gemacht (2006) describes notable events from the life of legendary composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Xaver Hutter plays the brilliant but troubled genius whose musical creations often came at the expense of nagging personal demons. Mozart’s eccentricities have been documented before--in films like Milos Forman’s Amadeus (1984)--but director Bernd Fischerauer goes even farther in citing evidence for the composer’s offbeat nature. One glance at Anna Thekla Mozart (Lilian Naumann) shimmying out of her petticoats should clear up a number of things.
