Armed with ace comic timing on par with her superhumanly radiant beauty, Laura Bottrell provides a highlight in the smash comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005). As the plainly named College Girl during a flashback sequence, Laura’s memorable appearance is anything but ordinary. Just as it looks as though the loser-in-love of the movie’s title (played by Steve Carrell) is going to score big with a knockout way above his league (Laura), he finds her polka-dotted bra too monumental a challenge to remove gracefully. Subsequently, upon witnessing Laura in her flawlessly alluring natural state, the Virgin gets a bit too excited, too soon, and thus retains his inexperienced status. His hyper-hormonal reflex response is understandable given Laura’s sumptuousness, although her standout performance in this slapstick encounter ensures that, when it comes to her show-business future, this brunette powerhouse is destined for brilliant horizons.
