Childhood sweethearts make dysfunctional bedfellows in the scandalous Brazilian psychodrama Lady on the Bus (1978). Sonia Braga stars as Solange, a beautiful young woman who agrees to marry, but not sleep with, her longtime soul mate Carlos (Nuno Leal Maia). Driven insane by his new wife’s coy demands, Carlos flies into a fit of rage and crosses the line with his new bride, causing her to furiously rebel. While continuing to spurn Carlos’s advances, Solange proceeds to screw every other man she can get her hands on, including unassuming Joes who board the city bus. Director Neville De Almeida delights in portraying Braga as pursuing her sexual conquests with a great deal of gusto and very little clothing.
